I put a post on my Instagram with the logos of beatstars, traktrain, and airbit, asking “Producers, which one you like better? Beatstars, traktrain, or airbit? Comment why below!” From the responses it was clear Beatstars was the most popular but there are clearly still things that need to be worked out on Beatstars end. The main complaints seem to be that;
- Not as streamlined as Traktrain.
- Somewhat restrictive on package deals.
- The soundcloud monetization that they offer, which is a big selling point to a lot of producers, is as far as I can tell pointless. For example multiple producers claim that they are being told it will take anywhere from 2 to 6 months to calculate there soundcloud plays and earnings.
For examples of what I mean check out the exchanges between me and two of the producers who commented on the post;
Wynter_Beats: Beatstars. By Far. but they can be better.
Me: How can they be better?
Wynter_Beats: well for one, if you use anything other than their pro page, the layout is ugly and very confusing. Same thing wit their main page. It’s not as stream lined as traktrain and can be very confusing to use. Also they should allow more deals. Beatstars only allows you to do promo codes. I wanna be able to do package deals through them too. Other than that, I feel like they’re good. I get my $20s worth every month. Their pro page is really good and extremely customizable. I love the own personal URL option too. And the YouTube distribution money from beatstars is nice, albeit not much
@iammusicgod : “I just tried airbit so I’m new but BeatStars takes forever to send money it’s a slow process i mean i used BeatStars for my SoundCloud monetization and i use airbit for my beats”
Me: how is the soundcloud monetization? How slow does it take them?
@iammusicgod: well i still ain’t received anything yet they talking bout some 2-6 months …i ain’t tripping cause i still make money anyways but it’s the fact that t shouldn’t take that damn long for them to calculate your plays.
Now yes there are definitely some kinks that still need to be worked out on Beatstars, but I think the pros might outway the cons. I mean look at the money some producers are making from beatstars.
The simple fact that there are multiple producers making five figures a month in beat sales alone shows how popular this platform can be. That’s just two examples of producers who are cool with sharing there numbers, I can’t imagine how many producers are making those numbers on Beatstars or close to it and just not bragging. The fact that it is the most popular marketplace right now and is only going to grow, means you should have content on there just in case someone sees ya ish. Otherwise your leaving money on the table.
