CuratedFlame first did an interview with kidkeva in September of last year and at that time he had accumulated on YouTube:
- 10,271 subscribers
I had found him through one of my many youtube searches got in touch with him and did an interview. He was one of my first interviews in fact, producer wise.
I am not linking to that interview because I found out recently that all of the youtube videos that were embedded in the article weren’t playing. I found this out because kidkeva DM’d me on IG informing me that his youtube account had been suspended at 17k subscribers. that just sucks.
We emailed each other back and forth and I did a second interview with him but before we get to that, lets get you acquainted with who he is with an excerpt from the first interview;
How old are you? I’m 19 years old
Where are you from? Germany, the overseas way you know what it is
Hardware or software?what kind? FL GANG
How long have you been producing? I started producing in late 2016.
What advise would you give to aspiring producers? Get some inspiration. Get better by learning and doing. Try out new stuff. Be original. Be patient.
What’s the dopest thing to happen to you since you started making music and releasing product? That there are people who like what I’m doing and I appreciate that.
Who are your biggest influences? Too many people. But Kid Cudi and Yung Lean really got me into this whole music shit, so I guess they are my biggest ones
Want to give any shoutouts? yeah shoutout to izak, decicco and fly melodies. They are real ones and make fire beats. Oh and shoutout to my girlfriend for making my tag.
What is something about you people would be surprised to know? I dont know shit about music theory and I produced with 10$ in-ear headphones for like half a year.
Who has been your favorite artist to produce for?
I didnt really produce for a big name yet, but my favorite artist I produced for so far is Young Jasper. He’s up next, keep an eye on him.
Now that your acquainted. Find out about what exactly happened with his YouTube channel and more below!
So I saw you produced the might cop a jag beat by comethazine and you produced a couple beats for lil bootycall? How did those placements / relationships happen?
I found the music video to might cop a jag by chance on youtube and it already had like nearly 100k views. At first I was kind of disappointed that there was no credit given. But everythings cool now, I fw the song and hope to work with comethazine in the near future.
And I dont know who lil bootycall is tbh.. i looked him up and didnt find any songs where he used my beats.
editors note: I was sure I saw somewhere that he had produced for Lil Bootycall, not sure where but I had. So after reading the response above, I googled “Lil Bootycall Kid Keva” and sure enough two songs came up, Pumpkin Pie and Pretty Bitch… when asked for comment again, kidkeva said “they he might have taken them from my old youtube, not sure tho”.
Can you explain what happened with your youtube channel? Whats the situation with that?
It’s fucked up. I got this notification from youtube that they terminated my yt channel. This happened all of a sudden, no warnings, nothing. I’m still positive that I will get it back tho..sooner or later.
People out there with terminated accounts got their channel back, even after like 3 moths or half a year.
This shit sucks, but complaining and shit wont take you further so I will keep looking forward, everything happens for a reason.
In the meantime I started a complete new one, where I reupload some of my beats.
During all this time I still was making new beats and I gotta say that I got so much heat in the vault. I’ll start posting them as soon as I hit a certain amount of subscribers. So stay woke…
How much are you going to be charging for beats in 2018?
I dont know how things will turn this year out but I will raise the prices at some point this year. I was actually planning to do this last year-
At the moment I’m charging 25$ for a regular mp3 lease.
What beat of yours sold the most leases in 2017?
Most definately my most popular beat this year called “forward”. After I finished the beat I knew it was a banger. People love this one.
*editors note: It’s not hard to see why, it sounds perfect for mr milly rock himself Playboi Carti.
What influences your sound?
Man it’s hard to tell. My recent sound is highly influenced by pierre bourne. At first I wasnt really into his beats, but that guy is a fucking genius. Apart from that, I always try to get some new inspiration by listening to new music or beats from other producers.
what are your plans for 2018?
staying consistent and focused. I want to build like a small home studio and do a major upgrade on my equipment. Other than that I’d love to work with some major or upcoming artists.
