Blue Velvet Sky: Interview with New Hampshire Artist Noah Briton

How old are you?
I just turned 22 in July

Where are you from?
I’m from a small town called Windham in New Hampshire. It’s around 30 mins from Boston.

Who exactly is Noah Briton for anyone who does not know?
Noah Briton is simply a stage name. His real name is Noah Swiderski. He is a 22 year old artist and producer, from a small town in southern New Hampshire. It started out simple, just making beats for his classmates; none of which took music seriously enough. Instead, Briton took his music elsewhere. He reached out to local artists, and forwarded them his beats. During senior year of high school, Noah landed his first placement with Gio Dee for a record that featured Reem, called “Mercedes”. After this project, he proceeded to place another with Laelo. Eventually, he couldn’t keep waiting on other artists to record on his beats. Noah went out, and decided to buy a cheap mic, learn the craft, and simply continue pursuing music as a solo artist.

How long have you been making music?
Since I graduated High School (2013)

What’s the dopest thing to happen to you since you started making music and releasing product?
The craziest thing that has happen so far is my single “Blue Velvet Sky” getting 82 thousand streams on Soundcloud, almost at 100k. As far as production, I’ve recently landed two of my beats in Gary Vee’s vlogs via Youtube. That was definitely a moment for me, considering I’ve looked up to him as an entrepreneur for some time now.

What did you do today?
So far today I’ve bought a large coffee, went to the gym, ate breakfast, and worked on beats for my upcoming album “Endless Love” releasing on October 6th.

Who are your biggest influences?Growing up, my father was a DJ in a small town in Pennsylvania. He would constantly be playing vinyl records around me, I could tell early on in my life it was something I could easily relate to, and express myself through. Whether it was creating lyrics late at night in my room, or listening to my playlist, I was able to put myself in a different place where I could freely be creative.

I got that creative side from my mother. She would always push me to express myself with either painting or simply writing lyrics around the house. I get all my inspiration from my parents, their love for music, and the connection it brought to so many people; including myself. An early influence for me was when I listened to Drake’s “Take Care” album on CD for my 16th birthday. That album completely changed my perspective on music. “Right there I realized, you don’t have to be something you aren’t. You can be yourself, and put together a body of work that can speak to a generation.

Another influence was a Connecticut artist named Felly. Felly is what got me into producing beats. I came across Felly’s work one day on YouTube in high school, while researching “How to Make Beats”. All of my production success is credited to Felly and his older tutorials. I would spend many summer days frustrated on not knowing where to start, and having Felly’s videos guide me.

Lastly, Seattle artist Sol, has been a great influence to me due to how well Sol purely represents positivity, and expressing yourself with love. Sol’s stories told in his lyrics and his melancholy sound inspired me to find my own sound. All of these artists have been major influences in my music in many ways. But being able to be supported by my parents at an early age to be different, and test his limits was the biggest contributor to his confidence in producing music for myself and others. All of these influences are portrayed in my songs. I go into the studio, write down my personal thoughts, and that’s how my verses come to life. Being young in this world is easy to get caught up in comparisons, but I enjoy being different. And I believe that is why many people can relate to me and my music.

Want to give any shoutouts?
I want to give a shout out to my team Hour Past, they’re all my closest friends. Also, I’d love to give a shout out to my mom because without her I wouldn’t be in the position I am today. What is something about you people would be surprised to know? I have a twin brother but we look nothing alike!
